Childhood – A Journal of Global Child Research marks its 25th anniversary in 2018, which will be celebrated with a two-day seminar, arranged at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) November 5-6 2018. The four editors of the journal (Karl Hanson; Spyros Spyrou; Leena Alanen; Daniel Cook) and four invited keynote speakers will engage in conversations about current and future discussions in childhood studies.
The theme of the seminar is ‘Childhood studies – the next 25 years’. Its point of departure is the four ‘conversation articles’ that are being published in the four 2018 Childhood anniversary issues. The themes for the conversations are ‘Past, present and futures of childhood studies’ (Conversation 1); ‘Crossdisciplinary conversation in childhood studies’ (Conversation 2); ‘‘Global/local’ research on children and childhood in a ‘global society’’ (Conversation 3); and ‘A conversation with emerging scholars of childhood studies’ (Conversation 4). The seminar will serve as an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of the journal to childhood studies but also, more broadly, to foster critical and forward-looking perspectives on the advancement of the field.
The seminar will take place on 5-6 November 2018 at Norwegian Centre for Child Research/Department of Education and Lifelong Learning, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim where Childhood has been hosted since its inception in 1993.
